Speaker & Headphone L/R Test
Each button plays a tone from the chosen side only. Start with a low volume.
LLeft
RRight
How to use
- Turn your system volume down
- Press "Left only" and "Right only" and check each side
- Compare "Both" with "Out of phase" (see below)
- Use the sweep to hear where low and high notes fade out
If it does not work
- Sides swapped: check the L/R marks on earphones, or swap the left and right speaker cables
- Only one side plays: reinsert the plug fully and check the OS mono audio and balance settings
- Phase: "Both" should sound centered while "Out of phase" sounds wide and hollow. If two speakers have fuller bass on "Out of phase", one speaker's + and − wires may be reversed
FAQ
I cannot hear the top of the sweep. Is something broken?
Usually not. High frequencies get harder to hear with age, and small speakers cannot reproduce deep bass.
Does it work with Bluetooth earbuds?
Yes, but in hands-free (call) mode audio becomes mono, so left/right cannot be checked.
