When do Japan's 2026 home energy subsidies end?
For the 2026 housing energy campaign (Mirai Eco Housing, window renovation, water heater and rental water heater programs), reservations close by Nov 16, 2026 and applications by Dec 31, 2026 at the latest. They end earlier if funds run out.
Do I apply myself?
For most housing programs, including the 2026 housing energy campaign, a registered contractor or dealer applies and passes the subsidy on to you as a discount or cash. For the EV (CEV) subsidy the buyer applies to the Next Generation Vehicle Promotion Center, and for the care-insurance home modification you apply to your city office.
Can I combine national and local subsidies?
Often yes, but some local programs exclude costs already covered by national subsidies. You cannot claim two national programs for the same work or product.
Is there a subsidy for home batteries?
The national DR home battery program closed on May 29, 2026 when its budget ran out, and SII says it will not reopen. Look for prefectural or municipal battery subsidies.
