FAQ
When does Ikusei Shuro start?
On April 1, 2027 (Act No. 60 of 2024). Technical Intern Training is being phased out, and no new training plans can be filed on or after that date.
Do current technical interns switch to Ikusei Shuro?
No. Anyone in training on the effective date keeps the "Technical Intern Training" status and continues under the old rules. Changing from Technical Intern Training to Ikusei Shuro is not allowed.
Can trainees still move to stage (iii)?
Only those who have spent at least one year in stage (ii) by the effective date. Trainees in stage (i) can still move to stage (ii).
What about trainees due to arrive around the effective date?
If the training plan was filed before the effective date, it may be certified afterwards. Training must then start by June 30, 2027, and the trainee should in principle enter Japan by that date.
