Remove the Background from an Image (Free, AI, No Upload)

Choose an image and the AI finds the subject and removes the background. Save a transparent PNG, put it on white or any color, or blur the original background. The AI runs on your device, so nothing is uploaded and you keep the full resolution.

Nothing is uploaded. The AI runs on your device.

Edge adjustment

Saved images contain no location or camera data (EXIF). Very large images are reduced to 4,096 px on the long side.

How to use

  1. Choose what to cut out, the background and the file format (this page has them preset).
  2. Choose or drop images. Several images are processed one after another.
  3. Check the result and touch it up with the brush if needed. Background and margin settings can be changed afterwards.
  4. Click Save, or save all as a ZIP.

FAQ

Are my images uploaded?

No. The background-removal AI runs inside your browser. The first time, the AI model and runtime are downloaded, but your images are never sent with them.

How long does it take?

It depends on your device. With WebGPU (recent Chrome, Edge and others) an image takes a few seconds; without it, 20–40 seconds. The portrait model is lighter and takes a few seconds. The first run also downloads the model.

Can I save in full resolution for free?

Yes. There are no limits on the number of images or resolution (images over 4,096 px are reduced to avoid running out of memory). No sign-up needed.

What if the cutout is not right?

Edges may be off when the subject and background have similar colors or the subject touches a table or floor. Click Touch up and paint with the erase or restore brush. For people, switching to the portrait model can help.

What is a transparent PNG?

A PNG image whose background is transparent, so whatever is underneath shows through when you place it in slides or designs. JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas become white.

Can I use the results commercially?

We put no limits on how you use your images. The AI models used (MODNet and ormbg) are released under the Apache-2.0 license, which allows commercial use. Respect the rights of people pictured and of photo or product image owners.
